Situated on Jefferson Island, the Jefferson Educational Research Institute boasts a unique, weaving structural design that seamlessly integrates with its natural surroundings. Visitors are invited to meander through the verdant landscape, gradually ascending to the rooftop of the building. Upon arrival, guests are presented with a choice: descend into the building via stairs or continue their journey to the rooftop, where panoramic vistas of Lake Peigneur and the picturesque surroundings await. The institute cleverly blends into its environment, with a portion nestled underground to provide privacy for essential functions like meeting rooms, research offices, archives, and a serene private courtyard. Meanwhile, the remaining structure rises above ground and water, hosting vibrant public spaces. At the heart of the building lies a central area serving as a welcoming lobby and cafe, offering opportunities for visitors to transition between indoor and outdoor spaces seamlessly. Guided through the building's circulation, visitors are led closer to the water, eventually arriving at the captivating gallery before reaching an exit that leads to the tranquil boat dock—a journey that harmoniously intertwines architecture, nature, and exploration.
