The McGinty Residence renovation project in Boston's South End presented a challenge and an opportunity to combine historical charm with modern functionality. Tasked with transforming the garden level, the clients expressed their desire for a revitalized space featuring a new pantry, kitchen, and rejuvenated staircase, all while adhering to the constraints imposed by the home's historical significance.
The project's primary challenge lay in navigating the web of structural, mechanical, and electrical systems hidden behind the walls and cabinets of the historical home, which were off-limits. Collaborating with the clients, the design team crafted a design concept that integrated their vision with the architectural constraints of the residence. To provide the clients with a glimpse into the proposed transformation, I created 3D visualizations of the redesigned space. These visualizations served as tools, allowing the clients to envision the final outcome and make informed decisions throughout the design process.
